I KNOW ITS WRONG...BUT...

I know Christmas is NOT about gifts. My kids know this. It has been drilled into them ever since birth. But this is a complaint not so much with Christmas, but birthdays as well..

Ya see, my FIL is man that I don't much care for. He talks big, says he is going to do things and never does. He told me a few years ago that for the spawns birthdays every year he was going to get them $1000.00 savings bonds. I thought this was great. Well it happen one year...

He came a few days ago and brought the gifts from my MIL and the husbands brothers. Tons of crap they unwrapped....Then he pulls out his little cloth bag with their gifts from him....They have NOTHIN to open, rather 50 buck savings bonds....WTF??.....He does this for their birthdays too..No gifts for them to open...And freaking card with a SB in it...

I am not saying I don't like those..Because I do. They will come in handy when I make the spawns pay for the own college, and they will be bailing their own butts out of jail..should that ever happen. I mean everyone gets them savings bonds, but they usually get a gift to open also..Now would this piss you off...Or is it just me?

***************************************

Meltdown Spawn got in trouble Thursday. He went out of doors and did not zip his coat , wear a hat, or put his boots on. He said he was going to play inside his buddies house...So I let it slide..Well they were sledding or something....And he comes home with red hot cheeks..And he says

" I think I have frost burn"

" you mean frost bite"

" whatever"

I was going to post a picture but blogger wont let me.......It must be able to see my hideous orange hands or something....

Such as my luck.

Another thing that ticked me off ....

We got our phone book yesterday , they have hubbys name spelled right ( his is not spelled normal)

and how do they have mine

Christine

Gawd I hate that name....I spent my years of school correcting teachers and other stupid people. I once told a teacher

" what cant you see the A at the end of my name?"
Yup I got detention for 3 days for that one;)

i would have to agree that a SB along with a little SOMETHING wouldn't hurt...i mean they're kids after all, they expect it from parents and granparents. i'm sure the day you bail them out with gramps SB's they will be greatful too, but in the meantime...lol

Yeppers, I agree 10 zillion percent girly! I would understand if he was on a fixed income, was their great grandparent, and had 30 to buy for! But... COM'ON!!! You know that I'm big about people not forgetting the "reason for the season"... but this small part of Christmas is for kids! For kids to be made special that someone went out of their way to GO to the store, and PICK SOMETHING OUT for them! Ok... I should stop before I can't..... LOL Yanno I still love ya Christine! :)

Grace gets those bonds all the time too.....even one for Christmas, but she still got gifts to open. What the heck do kids care about a bond? They'll appreciate it someday but not now.

Hey Christina I agree he should get them a little something cause kids don't understand the value of a savings bond. I hate it when people misspell my name so I can see why that would urk you. I rarely use sunscreen because I am allergic to most of it and well I choose to not have hives. We shall see if it is you, me, Kylz, and chelseas momma as the only ones cancer free.

Kids could care less about a savings bond. Give that to the parent and give the kid a toy for christ's sake! Oh, plus give the parent a gift too...lol

I agree as the Grandpa, he should get them each SOMETHING to open. even if it is a $10 gift. THe kids just want something to open. mY brother and sister in law didn't get my son anything either and they didn't feel too bad because "He wont know anyway" and they are going to "contribute to his invesment fund instead." Which like you said is great, but I gave them ideas that THEY asked for, and I even said "well since you are investing, why don't you jsut get him some hotwheels or puzzles" cheap enough. I am with ya on that won CHRISTINA :)> HA

WOO HOO!!!! I can see your blog again! Whatever you did worked wonders! I would try to catch up but yeah...um...4 kids at home until Jan 3, not much time. I'll try though.
I agree, a little something extra to open would have been a good idea. The savings bond is a generous gift for the future but throw some candy in the box with it. :)

Glad to be back! Have a Happy New Year, I know I'll be loving it! We are having 50 13 year olds for DD's birthday/New Year's Eve party! FUN STUFF
