papa was a rolling stone

So, lets see...

There has been a turn of events here in my dwelling. Something I did not see coming. Something that I was not prepared for.

It hit me like 14 tons of mother loving bricks.

Maybe 15.

I am not a planner by any means, but I don't like sneak attacks either, cause I'm not prepared.

That's why I could never be a combat officer in the front line of duty, cause I would be dead.

If I don't see it coming, I'm splat dead..

splat.dead.

And I don't wanna be dead...not yet..

I know my time is coming, its not that I think I'm some wizard of immortal power..

God I wish...being a wizard would totally kick ass...and I woulda seen this shit coming.

I mean I have enough shit I'm dealing with, like trying to figure out how I'm gonna buy Halloween candy for the neighborhood hoodlums...I was going to hand out my TUMS and tell the tots they were sweet tarts, but I ate them all over the weekend.

every last one...

Thats the kinda stress I'm dealing with here...

I even ate a whole bag of licorice on Saturday...

A whole bag!

It seems my mother has hit some financial hardship..and guess what.

She is moving in with us.

Now she has lived with us before and it always ended very very very very very very very badly.

I mean, I was thinking of cleaning out my shed and throwing a cot in there and a couple flash lights..And a nice thick pieced together blanket...so her toes would stay warm...but the hubs said that would not be proper living conditions.

Now I have been reading and seeing on the news that this is a popular trend taking place in todays world.

Parents are moving in with their children because they are having trouble making it on their own.

Just like in the Great Depression when many generations lived together in family compounds...and they baked together, sewed buttons on britches, had hot pots of gruel on the stove top, and darned socks...

Thats gonna be me.

I called my dad to let him know there would be no room for him at the inn now...so he needs to call his other daughter if times get rough for him and the Mrs.

I know I complain about money, because well, everyone is having hard times...and really, I don't have it nearly as rough as some people do..I'm just spoiled and when I cant have my luxuries, I get pissed...

But now dear ole mom is coming to stay...I am not sure for how long...I'm hoping no more then a year...

Its not like I am giving her a deadline...

I wish I could...cause I kinda have a bad feeling about this.

I am not a people person and I do not play well with others.

And she knows this.

I am very temperamental and stuff tends to piss me off very quickly.

I'm sure u have not noticed that shit..

Anyway, this is going to cause me great deals of stress...So if at times I vent and use more four letter words then I normally do, I am apologizing now in advance.

cause there will be no apologize when it happens, thats not how I roll..

And I hope this living arrangement does not leave me as a victim, nor the defendant on a case Nancy Grace will be working on..

I'm just sayin...

And to boost your mood after bringing you down..

oh wait, your not down? its just me?

Here is a pic of what my son will look when he is an old man...

All you people with daughters his age, come have them take a gander ...

enjoy tweens....

My first thoughts...it could be worse, it could be your mother-in-law. However, you're mother-in-law could be a lovely person, so I could be way off base on that one.

Just think of all the blog fodder this is going to create for you!

Welcome to the sandwich generation! I tell you what every day I thank God my MIL is financially independent while cursing the fact my mom isn't. Then I remember my sister has it worse and it's getting worse every day. Massively long story...

Anyway, I so very sorry for your loss - I mean gain...I'm so glad your funny little gift will be there soon so you don't eat everything that isn't nailed down.

Well, my dear FF, times are so tough for so many people right now....I think we are going to see WAY more of this........children moving back in with their parents, and parents moving in with their children.

In tough times, everyone has to band together. You are such a tough cookie, I think you can deal with it!!

You always have all of us here for support!

I will send you some strength and patience!

Love ya.

Wow, guess it was a good thing your sis didn't end up moving in with her this summer.

It may be more fun than you think. At least you two like to hang out and seem to get along most of the time. If all else fails, at least you will have a live in babysitter so you and Hubby can get out on date nights more!

eyes_only4him said...

Krazymom,

Now you can take down the "reason to drink" widget: you have your own built-in reason!

Wow, I can see why you had to down that bottle of TUMS now...although I've seen pics of your mom (who looks very cool/young/friendly) and from what you've mentioned, she's a lot of fun. I know being around someone (anyone!) 24/7 changes things, but at least you get along with her. Your cot in the shed idea was too funny! I'm going to threaten my parents with that one when they start whining about not wantint to be put in a nursing home. :)

Oh boy - I lived with my parents for a year after we moved back up here and lemme tell ya, I was ready to buy one of those POD things and move my family in there just to get out from under my parents roof.

BUT - I'm sure you'll be fine. Probably.

I'll set Nancy Grace to record on my DVR just in case though.

Dear flip flop

You are very funny. Much funnier than Me. Than I...Me?

I wanted to tell you that I have been telling my Mom for the last five years that she is not going to EVER come live with us, even if I love her now that I am grown up and all. So she needs to keep working and not retire.

She usually laughs. I think I might have to start cutting myself it it ever happens for reals.

---just saying.

Oh, Pshaw said...

I guess you sort of have to look at the bright side.

Wait...are you waiting on me to tell you what the bright side is?

Umm, well, at least your husband isn't opposed to the idea, and at least you have the room to offer to your mom.

I get what you're saying, though. I don't like people in my space, either. Not even my own kids and husband. If it's my time to be home alone, I tend to get a little snippy and pissy when someone is stepping into my space. I don't do well with interaction all day long.

Tough, tough times for everyone. I know it sucks, but you're doing the right thing. You're a good daughter.

Thats why we built the play house out back... its for one of our mothers... should the need arise. Oh sure, its cold and drafty without real windows and no electricity... but its better than death... which would surely happen if one of them moved in with me.

Oh man I thought you & your Mom were buds. Well, my Mom and I are pretty close too but the honest-to-God thought of her living with me does give me a pause.
I hope it works out well for you all hon!

I'd love my mom to come live with me!!! I'm gone so much at least she'd cook and keep up with the house work and basic bullshit I can't deal with on a daily basis.

I wish you the bestest of luck though!!

Doozie said...

oh lordy....I think you are really using your mad skills as a planner to ensure your mom lives out her last days in comfort. Good think for her you havent dug out a divet in the shed and thrown in a blanket, and sometimes go out there to read her the daily bible lessons and offer up a biscuit of two.

I guess if you want your head bludgeoned with a sharpened lawn mower blade, this is how you roll
